When Was the Last Time You Truly Felt Alive?
A weekly roundup of the latest future of work and conscious leadership news and insights
As a coach, I love asking thought-provoking, soul-searching questions. In almost every session with a client, after I ask such a question, there’s a pause, and the client says, “Hmm, that’s a great question.” Or, “Wow, I’ve never been asked that before.”
That’s when you’re on the verge of a big breakthrough moment: when your perspective shifts and you see things differently than you had in the past. It’s true that the quality of the questions you ask yourself can determine the quality of your life.
This week I was watching a documentary my dad shared with me and several coaching “perspective-changing” questions were asked that resonated with me:
When was the last time you truly felt alive?
When did you last feel truly yourself?
How much do you love yourself?
When were you happiest in life?
The documentary that posed these questions is Who We Are, which explores the nature of consciousness. It’s an important topic and so much new research is being conducted that shows the amazing connection between consciousness and how it creates our reality.
That’s why I believe conscious leadership is our destiny as a society. While the concept of consciousness is ancient, science is just now catching up to verify many of the questions humans have about the nature of reality.
During coaching sessions, clients raise their level of consciousness. It enables them to rise above the white noise of life and see things from a new perspective. They see themselves and their value differently. Their levels of creativity and opportunity increase dramatically. They feel like an entirely different person because they see things so differently.
The world is eager for more conscious leaders who create incredible businesses, projects and relationships that transform the world for the better. You can be that kind of leader. All it takes is working with the right coach and aligning with your purpose.
Here is some of the future of work and conscious leadership content I found interesting this week:
The Coworkaholic blog thinks business travel will make a comeback. That’s because United Airlines is now offering travel bundles that include meeting and coworking space. Companies like Google now view offices as coworking spaces for teams to collaborate and strategize. The actual work will take place remotely. While the number of road warriors will decrease, the number of staff traveling to a meeting may increase.
Professor Sarah Gershman acknowledges that giving virtual presentations is weird. So she shared some tips for making it a more enjoyable experience for the presenter and audience. One of the key points is being empathetic with your audience and finding ways to engage them in a virtual setting.
Business Insider reviews the many future of work trends coming out of Silicon Valley. No surprise: most companies are moving towards decentralized, flexible work teams. And they’re also providing funds for staff to set up home offices.
Just in time for the holidays, CNET offers its list of best gifts for working from home. What would you add to the list as a must-have for working remotely?
Work happy. Live happy. BE happy.
