Have you ever experienced something that made you so uncomfortable that you had to leave or change, even if it meant leaving behind everything familiar to you?
I can look back on my life thus far and note several times where circumstances made me so unhappy or uncomfortable that I had to change, even though changing would also make me uncomfortable. But the possibility of a better future (or feeling hope) motivated me to move, leave a job, end a relationship, etc.
One of the blessings of hindsight is we can look back at uncomfortable situations from our past and see how they actually ended up being a blessing. I recently came across the following quote and it summarizes this experience perfectly:
After reading this quote, I reflected on the times I’ve let myself sit in a situation that was increasingly painful because I was too scared to walk into the unknown. The known yet painful circumstances somehow seemed more comfortable than the unknown. But every time I stepped out in faith, even if I was afraid, it paid off. Looking back, I was so happy I walked through the fear in order to experience something new that got me closer to my dreams.
Sometimes we get really unhappy with a situation for no good reason. We just feel like what once made us happy no longer does. It’s part of life. It means we’re maturing, or the universe is telling us to move on. That sense of unhappiness or discomfort won’t leave until we make changes. Maybe you’re experiencing something similar right now. Things are okay, but you just feel unhappy or uncomfortable with complacency. That’s one of the biggest signs you’re ready to move on to the next phase of your life.
If you do sense it’s time to move, it’s time to follow what the second half of the quote shares: trust the process and align yourself with the things you really want. Trust that you will be okay as you boldly step out of your comfort zone And align yourself with what you envision for yourself and your future. Getting clear on who you want to be and what you want to accomplish will change your life. And the rest will be history…
Work happy. Live happy. BE happy.
