Remote is here to stay, onboarding new staff, and podcasting
A roundup of the latest remote work news and insights
The Great #WFH Experiment continues for most of the world. And it looks like working from home and building remote teams is winning lots of fans. One person I talked with this week shared that her organization is getting such positive feedback from employees about remote work, that she believes it will become a permanent feature of the organization.
The demand for quality coaching and instruction on how to navigate the permanent change will increase. This newsletter is committed to providing you the best insights, coaching and training for you and your team to successfully transition to a robust virtual team.
Here are some of the remote work/conscious leadership content I found interesting this week:
One key insight for me: The CNBC piece also notes that some research shows 25-30% of the U.S. workforce will work remote by 2022. In other words, this is the future of work and it’s a great time to work with a coach on providing transition help and leadership for these growing virtual teams.
One key insight for me: “Get comfortable with ‘messy.’” Instead of getting frustrated when things don’t go the way you’d anticipated or aren’t “the usual way,” relax, enjoy the comic relief, and go with the flow.
One key insight for me: American Airlines found that an internal podcast was the best way to explain WHY they are making certain decisions, which is the added info some employees need to feel more confident in leadership’s thinking and direction.
HR Drive offers some counsel on how to think about onboarding new employees virtually.
One key insight for me: Onboarding a new employee in-person can take up to 6 months, which can be even longer in a remote setting. The first month is critical for setting them up for success with the tools, relationships, and cultural understandings to fully integrate.
Forbes provided this helpful WFH guide for small businesses.
One key insight for me: Choose phone calls over email/text when you want to have a conversation that could be miscommunicated in writing. Communication using voice tone and immediate energetic feedback will help prevent potential misunderstandings.
I hope you have a blessed holiday weekend. Despite the circumstances in which we find ourselves right now, there is always hope. Please take this time at home to reflect on what truly matters. Focus on developing your level of consciousness. And express gratitude for the gift of a constantly renewing life.
I will soon be launching a training series for employers and employees to hone their remote work skills. Stay posted for these exciting and timely new courses!
