Ready for a Digital Republic?
A weekly roundup of the latest future of work and conscious leadership news and insights
The U.S. election is next Tuesday, and most Americans are debating which candidates, parties and platforms will ensure a prosperous future for the nation. But sometimes these debates feel like they’re based on an old system that will be obsolete in less than a decade. It’s like arguing over which record player to purchase when streaming music services like Spotify are available.
The Digital Age continues to unfold and the next stage will be decentralization. One nation saw that the future is digital and embraced it over 20 years ago. Estonia has declared itself a digital republic and is truly leading the way in embracing technology to help its nation progress.
As Singularity Hub shares, Estonia has digitized 99 percent of its public services. Citizens prepare their taxes in 5 minutes. Health records are held online so doctors can access them with the patient’s consent. Estonians don’t worry about voter fraud or mailing in ballots. They have digital ID cards that allow them to vote from anywhere any time before an election. Citizens own their own data, not government.
Technology is not the answer to all our problems, but the emerging technologies such as blockchain will transform the way we work, live and govern. It’s an important development for conscious leaders to be aware of because we need conscious leadership to ensure technology helps create a fairer, more transparent, society that restores trust between citizens and leadership.
It’s worth taking a step back from the political drama, looking at the big picture, and visualizing a world that transcends antiquated ways of being and relating.
If you’re ready to step into the future and help co-create as a conscious leader, let’s connect. The future is coming at us faster than ever. Now is the time to prepare yourself and your team to boldly enter a new era of work, life and BE-ing.
Here is some of the future of work and conscious leadership content I found interesting this week:
Paid subscribers to this newsletter received information on the future of money and how it will impact the future of work and leadership. In order to prepare for the future, it’s important to understand the broader landscape of finance. The world of finance is going to be totally different in just 3-5 years and conscious leaders need to be prepared to lead their teams through the transition.
Reddit announced this week it is moving to permanent work from home. Even more encouraging is that the company will not decrease pay for team members who leave high cost of living areas. This is a positive precedent showing that salary should be tied to talent, not geography.
The Future Forum wants to help rethink the future of leadership and work. It recently launched the Remote Employee Experience Index to help leaders get the data and analysis needed to transition to the future of work. It provides all sorts of great intel to assist conscious leaders as they guide their teams.
