People, Not Policy, Make Transformation Possible
Research shows focusing on people makes companies successful
As I wrote about in last week’s newsletter, we’re going through a time of great transformation in life and work. Whether it’s the Great Resignation causing high turnover, or the rise of remote work, or the desire among the workforce for more conscious leadership, every leader is learning on the fly how to navigate complicated times.
But there is research that can help leaders find success as they transform their teams to new ways of working that more closely align with conscious leadership principles. In fact, one of the key findings is a core principle of conscious leadership: focus on your people.
Harvard Business Review recently posted an article about the latest research on successful corporate transformations. It’s estimated that 70% of attempted corporate transformations fail. It’s not easy to fundamentally change how a company conducts business and treats its staff.
But there are certain shared characteristics amongst companies that successfully transform. Among these are higher compensation, higher employee satisfaction, greater stock options (i.e., shared ownership amongst employees), talent development, and more female leadership.
The study concluded that people are the catalysts of successful transformation. The better a company takes care of its team, the more progress they will make in transformation and financial and reputational success.
This is a testament to the conscious leadership concept of considering all stakeholders and their highest benefit when making decisions. A rising tide lifts all boats. Embracing an abundance mindset and expanding that abundance to all team members and stakeholders will create an ever-broadening ripple of progress for all.
So as you guide your organization through transformation, focus on the people. You’re guaranteed to find greater professional success and personal fulfillment.
Work happy. Live happy. BE happy.
