Do you Feel Abandoned?
A weekly roundup of the latest future of work and conscious leadership news and insights
We’re entering into a new era of work. Thanks to advances in technology and the need to leverage them working remotely this last year, we’ve learned a lot about how the way we work can be very different than in the past. According to Hewlett Packard, we’re entering in the era of the “Empowered Employee.”
An HP survey conducted last year found many employees felt abandoned by their employer. They weren’t provided much direction on remote work and they felt disconnected from their organization and its mission. So these talented workers started considering their future. They’re building new skills and looking at a career path outside the traditional patterns.
HP now predicts these employees will leverage their new skills for either starting their own business or looking for new opportunities. When they do join a company, they will expect higher levels of investment in their well-being and professional development. This will be the key for retaining talent moving forward.
ZDNet cited a company that is already addressing this trend: Dropbox. The company will “encourage workers to draw their own work schedules beyond the core collaboration hours defined by the company, in an effort to push flexible working further.” Dropbox wisely adjusted to the shifting demands of talent and understands that to stay competitive, it has to invest more in providing the resources and lifestyle its team wants to live.
As a conscious leader, it’s important to notice these trends and see how we can lean into them for building strong conscious teams that focus on purpose, which leads to greater profits and impact.
Here is some of the future of work and conscious leadership content I found interesting this week:
